Founder: Sudarshan

Sudarshan has a deep interest in understanding how language and culture influence each other. He founded Akshar Amrit by leveraging his extensive expertise in Strategy & Analytics and business development in major corporations, combined with a passion to develop a unique supplemental curriculum based on interdisciplinary research, at the intersection of Science & Math, Language, Arts and culture.
Growing up in Chennai, India, he grew-up in a typical multi-lingual setting that is common in India. He speaks fluent Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and English. Later in US he attended evening Spanish classes (SPAN 101, 102 & 201), and has a knowledge of basic Spanish.
His vision for Akshar-Amrit is to serve as the primary provider of supplemental education for Diaspora Indian children to foster interest in learning language and Indian culture. This interest can be leveraged to serve as educational tools to understand math and science in a practical setting that the students can relate to and appreciate. This would have a doubly beneficial effect of (a) fostering a healthy respect for and appreciation of world cultures and (b) help explain and reinforce math and science concepts in a practical and tangible setting.
Sudarshan has a Bachelors in Engineering degree from VESIT, Mumbai University, India and MBA from Purdue University. Prior to founding Akshara-Amrit, he served as AVP, Strategy & Analytics at HSBC. Prior to HSBC, he was a strategy consultant at Deloitte Consulting and other consulting companies. He has ten years of combined experience in consulting and banking sectors. He lives in Chicago with his wife and daughter.
